User Research

We believe systems with quality designs and sound strategies cannot be defined as such unless they are directly responsive to the needs of their users. Understanding what your users want should help you serve them more effectively. Sounds pretty straightforward right? But users are often unsure of what they want, how best to accomplish their objectives, or they are simply unable to communicate their own processes.

Part private investigation, part ethnography and part psychology, User Research for us means sitting down with users, either individually or in groups, and gaining an understanding of the context in which they work, the tools they use and the information they require.

There are a number of types of user research, each with its own advantages and intentions. We specialize in the following methods (and often use more than one approach per project):
  • One-on-one Interviews
  • Focus Groups
  • Contextual Inquiry
  • Surveys
  • Task Analysis
  • Usage Logs / Diaries
  • Usability Testing
Typical User Research deliverables include:
  • Personas
  • User Scenarios
  • User Research Reports
